Article is "5 Hot Spots for 2010" - the five are Macchu Picchu(Cuzco, Peru); Madrid, Spain; Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City; Singapore; and Zion.

Zion National Park:
Recognized as a national treasure since 1909, Zion National Park in the Southwestern corner of Utah covers 229 square miles with the major attraction the 15-mile long Zion Canyon. Climb the occasionally steep trail to Angels Landing for breathtaking views that lay out the half-mile deep canyon below. Rangers help visitors plan horseback rides, mountain climbing trips and other excursions to digest the 150 million years of geologic sedimentation. From bright red to golden yellow and stark white the colorful striations have made this park a perennial favorite.

Can't speak for the overseas sights and haven't been to Toronto, but Montreal and Quebec City were nice though I was only there briefly. Zion was awesome, in both the real and "dude!" senses of the word :)

She just won't get it.

Oh, hell, she gets it, she just doesn't want to admit it.

Annoying cousin called yesterday evening - she & friends had supposedly run out of gas and wanted me to come out & lend her gas money. No.

Guess who just knocked at my door wanting to borrow five bucks?

Yeah. Didn't let her in and told her I wasn't giving her any money. She does a great "why do you hate me?" face. [eg]

And since these people seem to be driving her around, I'm *not* going to call and see if she needs a ride to the Post Office to pick up her check. If she calls, I'll do it, but I'm not offering.

Vacation photos!

Vacation time!

I love taking photos, but I'm not always great at it :) but with such beautiful scenery, it's hard to have bad ones. Link is to the collection, click on the the individual sets to see each day.

The Days 3 & 4 is very small - day 3 was mostly just admiring the scenery - and trying to figure out if the specks we saw near the bison herd were wolves or not. We think they were, but none of had the kind of camera lens needed to find out (well, Ith did, but her camera/batteries chose that time to die, of course). And, on day 4, there's only so much white you can take pictures of :)

And, if you ever get the chance, vacation with Ith & Nin :) They're excellent travel companions! But watch out for Ith in the evenings - she's got a wicked competitive streak when it comes to games!

We were face to face with a buffalo! Like 3 feet - and he wasn't particularly please with our presence :)

Also saw elk, deer, a beaver, and loons.

And gorgeous, gorgeous scenery.

And much silliness :)

Honey is on my suitcase, chasing and catching her tail - it's a dirty, dirty tail and must be washed. Washed diligently! She also likes to sharpen her claws on it [sigh]. I laughed at her and she stopped washing her tail and glared at me :) Now she snoozes, while in perfect calico cat loaf position.

Ember is a big lump, asleep on the top of the cat tree.

They were vaguely offended earlier tonight when D. came over to get the keys to the house so he can get in to house sit - one of brother's dogs came up and I let her in. They're quite sure I have violated some rule of the Geneva Cat Convention.

And yes, it is 5:40 am Eastern time.

Annoying cousin called yesterday - early afternoon. Made it sound like she had gotten kicked out of the new place, but mostly she wanted to bum a couple of dollars and a ride. Fine. I'd have been happier if she'd just called and asked for a ride, but that's impossible.

So I drop her off at some karaoke place. She says something about seeing me later. Oh, joy, I thought.

Well, by 10 pm, when I was talking to aka_arduinna, I assumed she had gotten someone to give her a ride home.

Well, you know what they say about assuming.

4:10 in the fucking morning. 4:10 am.

I get a call from a convenience store. Guess who. Wasn't awake enough to realize what time it was or I'd have let the machine pick up. I almost told them to have her arrested for vagrancy :) Still not sure why I actually went and got her.

Then, I get on the wrong road and she lets me drive for 10-15 minutes before telling me I'm going the wrong way. I had told her I didn't know where the apartments were. Completely the wrong fucking direction.

When I dropped her off, I told her not to call me until November.

She thought it was funny and said something about seeing me in a couple of days. So I reminded her that I was going off. So she chuckled and said something about seeing me in November.

She won't think it's so funny the next time she calls.

Unless, of course, she actually waits until November.

I'm... I'm not even mad. I'm beyond mad. I realize I helped create this monster. And I'm going to help kill it too.

Now I've just got to unwind enough to go back to sleep.

Brother is re-burning the shed so there's less to bury. It's been very wet here lately, so makes it safer to burn.

So there's a nice fire going - where are the marshmallows? and the sticks?
