OMG! The world is ending!

In honor of my bad luck morning, I went into the convenience store after gassing up the car, and along with my other purchases, I got two Monopoly scratch tickets. $3 each. I won $10 on each card.

My flabber is gasted. (My gasted is flabber?)

My outbuilding caught on fire.

An ambulance/patient transport was going down the road and saw it. Guy came pounding on the door. Fully engaged, flames and smoke pouring out of it.

He moved my car for me - I park under one of those canopy things and it's on the upper drive by the shed. Back of my car is melted. Vinyl siding on the house facing the shed is melted.

One side was full of my grandfather's tools and stuff. Other side was storage - christmas tree, ornaments, old stuff of my grandparents and parents, and the lawn mower.

We'll be needing a new lawn mower. And tree. And everything.

Lights still work on the car - need to go get some red tape to cover exposed bulb. So I can still go to the funeral tomorrow.

Luckily the propane tank didn't blow up. And the house is fine, just the vinyl siding is melted. Which I'll have to replace.

Fuck.

My dear sweet Aunt Helen passed away Friday. One of her daughters that I've been keeping in contact with called me just a little bit ago. She went in the early morning hours and then they spent most of the day making arrangements - which, with the holiday weekend, made things a bit more complicated.

She was 79 and had been married to my uncle for 61 years. Woah, she was 18 when they married. 5 kids - 4 girls and one boy, several grandkids. Niece loved her to pieces.

Funeral is Monday and I've been told that they'll understand if I don't come, because Monday traffic will be horrendous and I'd have to drive through Atlanta. But if I went down tomorrow, it might not be so bad. Brother is planning to do that. Not that I'll go with him :)

Was talking to Cousin Jeff, who called to reiterate his sister's worry at me driving down on Monday, and he said not to tell Niece today since it was her birthday. When talking to Cousin Dianne, was asked not to tell annoying cousin until *after* the funeral - they don't want her there {g} - and since I'd probably be the one to have to drive her down, I'm happy with that decision.

Such a sweet, sweet lady.

Not that the kids were bad - they were fine - I just like being there alone.

House is clean; now I'll just have to start figuring out where she moved stuff :)

Had messages every day from annoying cousin wanting me to come pick her up from places. Laughed at messages and deleted them. Didn't answer phone today after getting home :) Possibly will answer her call tomorrow if she does call. Possibly - caller ID is a lovely thing.

Kitties seem determined to get the 4 days worth of kitty treats that they missed. Greedy little furry bums :)

And, as usual, I managed to pop a crown off. Will call dentist Monday. Really, somehow, I seem to almost always pop one of my crowns off while I'm on long vacations. This one came off while I was flossing. Luckily it's not a painful thing, just annoying.

Happy birthday, Mom. Happy Father's Day, Dad.

I miss you both so much.


I almost forgot - I had the thought about Mom's birthday flash through my head sometime this week, I know, and Father's Day is hard to miss, but it's the one-two punch that finally hit just a few minutes ago.

Think I'll go harass a cat - that should make me feel better. Or at least the bleeding should distract me :)

I have the "Why work when you can pillage and plunder chart" (with treasure chest charm) and am planning on getting the "Arrrrrhh! Another day, Another ship" chart (with cutlass charm). Possibly will get the "Yo HoHoHo" Pirate Santa (with map charm). Very cute and very quick to stitch.

Don't know who's dogs either or I'd be visiting their house.

Knocked over my trash can and ripped into the bags. Trash all over the yard.

Spent maybe 10 minutes out there getting up some of it. Covered in bug bites. Can't find any of the spray I bought to keep bugs off/ease bites. So went with the greasy cream, which is finally starting to work, though I'm still very itchy. Also benedryl, so I'll probably have to go to bed soon.

Want to blame brother, but not entirely possible :) He is the one who carries off the trash, but unless his dogs did the damage, all I can blame him for is not checking my trash needs ::g::

Well, I could blame him for alienating his daughter, who, if she still lived over here, I could have hired to go pick up the trash :>

Dammit! I forgot to check the mail too. Well, it'll just get wet. (Mailbox flap broke and it's starting to rain)

I like nature - in pictures :) not reality. Well, not reality during summer. Pre and post bug season is good :)

Just got my first call to drive for the Road To Recovery - need to pickup the patient at 2:30 tomorrow.

Hmm... guess that means I need to get the passenger's side floorboard cleaned out :)

Which will be a good start on getting the car cleaned out for next week's trip to the beach!

I post lots of pictures of Ember - she's very photogenic :) And she's usually around. Honey, on the other hand, likes to hide in the back room - she tends to come out in the wee hours of the morning. Well, she actually came out during the day and I got some good pictures! Her eyes are always a bit goopy, but they didn't look too bad in these...

Today I went out and bought a new one. Came home and starting figuring out which tip I needed for my netbook. Went to plug it in.

Guess where the old charger was...

::sigh::

I can return it, but I'm thinking about keeping it for backup purposes :)

Got my hotel room for the beach booked! Taking the niece and probably her sister and a friend for three nights in a couple of weeks. And - hold on to yourselves - brother offered me money to help pay for food for them!

Now if I can only find the AC adaptor for my netbook by then ::sigh:: I don't know if I misplaced it or if niece's mom did when she last cleaned the place.

Also, kitties are being wackier than usual this morning :)

Finished a small cross stitch project. From Subversive Cross Stitch, it's called "Pussy Got Me Dizzay" - it's the title to a rap/hip-hop song. I found the song on YouTube - didn't like it, so decided not to do the words and just did the cat :) It's a fun little pattern. Click through for larger.

Signed up for a sewing class again - we'll see if it gets enough people this time :)

Also am meeting someone from the American Cancer Society June 8 for a bit of training - I'm signing up for a volunteer program they're starting here in town called the Road to Recovery, where volunteers drive people to and from treatment sessions. I remember how tired I was during my radiation treatments - and having to drive for an hour to get home after. This is just here in town and I can sign up for once a month/week/whatever.
