AC says she's leaving S'burg. Called me to find out bus rates out of here. Told her Greyhound required a destination, so she said NYC - told her the price. Went and picked her up a bit later and took her to Walmart so she could get a new outfit and some food - she's back in a motel with nothing again. ::shakes head::

Also told her that when she went to Greyhound to get a ticket to seriously think about it - she might want to head further south, since NYC is very expensive and will get getting mighty cold soon :)

Of course, there was no discussion of how she'd be getting her checks, what she'd do, ...

Because I'm sure she expected me to pity her and offer up my house or money. Not happening.

But if she did what she said, she's on a bus somewhere out of state. Sorry, world.

From Shelf Awareness (a book info thingy I subscribe to)

"Sheryl Cotleur, the buyer at Book Passage, Corte Madera, Calif., shared the following great story with us:

We had a wonderful thing just happen at Book Passage. A woman named Diana Phillips gave her partner, Diane Allevato, 63 minutes of shopping here for books for her 63rd birthday. Diane came in with lists (she prepared for weeks), her partner used a timer and off she went. I was given notice and did some decorating beforehand and had signs made welcoming her.

I was allowed to help her by pulling titles and suggesting others I thought she'd like, and Elaine Petrocelli pushed the cart and also helped find some titles already selected. They also brought two friends, and after it was over we treated them to candlelight dinner in our cafe with several courses and fine wine, white tablecloth, etc. Diane ended up with 73 books, which is pretty amazing as she tried to spend a few minutes with any book she wasn't sure of to consider its appeal. She is known to us as a terrific reader, but still was thrilled when her partner came up with this idea for her birthday.

We all had great fun with this; the gifter and giftee have thanked us several times for how Book Passage fussed over them and even decorated, and of course we were thrilled that someone would think up this idea. We hope this is a trend that will continue!! "

Oh, I'd love that :)

She's been released, but where she is I do not know.

I called back soon after my last post and they said her group would be going before the judge in about 15 minutes, so I gave it some time and called back a bit after 11 pm - and they said she was out. So I went over to pick her up - mostly to see who was persecuting her this time [eg]. She wasn't there.

Officer at the desk said she'd been arrested for loitering and there was a $1000 bond, but she had been released. So does that mean she actually had money to post - or did they just release her for some reason?

And where did she go?

I drove to the two gas stations nearby that she calls me from occasionally and didn't see her. Drove around a little bit to see if I saw her walking, plus check my home phone for messages. Nothing. And I won't call the place she's living as it's after midnight now - there are only two or three people I do that too - and them rarely.

So it'll be interesting to see what happens. Will I get a call at 4 am again? Or will she call tomorrow to whine about the world hating her? Do I care? Well, I'm vaguely interested :) but unless she calls in the next half hour, any phone call will be met with a "No, I am not coming out to get you. Tough luck, hope they don't arrest you for loitering again." The only reason I say the next half hour is that I'm not planning to go to bed until at least 1 am and my vague interest in the story *might* get me to go back out. After that? Interest wanes and sleep beckons.

LOL - AC is at it again

Went out for some shopping - yarn, yeah!

Got home, had message on the phone. AC is in jail again and wants me to come pick her up. Message was left at 5:15 pm-ish, I got it after 7 pm. Ignored it for a bit, then found the phone number for the jail to see if she was out yet. Officer who answered recognized the name! and said that she hadn't seen the judge yet - that would happen between 8 & 10 pm.

So I'll call back in a few minutes - it's 9:40 pm now.

Can't wait to hear this story!

therapy homework redux and AC

  • Nov. 22nd, 2009 at 7:05 PM
fall
I procrastinated - as usual :)

I had 2 short lists of physical features - one good, one bad. And a vague outline of an exercise plan.
I'm very good at vague outlines :P

She laughed at me when I told her "I did and did not do my therapy homework" and wrote DADNDTH in my session notes. She's got ADD also and understands and I will work on the desired elaboration for next time.

But she does want character traits too - all features, not just physical.

Sarcasm and having a dirty mind can be listed on both sides, right? :)

*********

And the drama llama returns!

AC says that the housekeeper at the last motel she stayed at hit her - and she still has a key to the room and wants her money back and is seeing a lawyer about suing them. *If* it's true, sure - she deserves the money. But it's been 2 months - why now? Except that she's broke and needs cigarettes and soda. And apparently got her walking papers from the roommate. ::snickers and shakes head:: So she needs a new place by the beginning of the month.

My question is - if all of these random people keep developing the urge to hit you, wouldn't you wonder what the hell was going on? I know an abusive relationship is different, but random people? But it's NEVER her fault.

Holiday card exchange

To: the usual suspects, plus anyone else :)

As is my wont, I'm again hosting a Holiday Card exchange.

If you'd like to exchange holiday cards, send me your snail mail address and name at otterevil at livejournal dot com. Tell me how many names you'd like to get - from 5 to 10 or more.

Also, this went out to the two usual email lists, so you may be getting a notice that way. Please let me know if you only want to do list people or if you want LJ/Facebook people too. This is the first time I've posted it (I think), so don't know how many names I'll get.

And something I just thought of - I call this the Holiday Card Exchange because I know not everyone celebrates Christmas. If you would prefer non-Christmasy cards, let me know that too. I always have winter holiday and Christmas cards myself. Plus this year I have some cards that can be construed as offensive, so let me know if you'd prefer NOT to get those cards because I'm planning on sending them out to non-family members who also are known for warped senses of humor (looks at both lists and smirks) but understand if you'd prefer not explaining why someone would send you that card.

And, in email, please! Unless you don't mind everyone else knowing your address!

::official disclaimer::
Addresses will only be used for the card exchange. I will not give out info to anyone else.

Unless they offer me lots of money. Then I'll sell you down the river.

::Beams sweetly::

Deadline of Dec. 1st. Names out to you by Dec. 5.

I'm supposed to make a list - well, two, actually - of my good features and my bad features. List & describe. And create a comprehensive exercise plan - schedule, goals, motivation, etc.

Features are just physical characteristics, right? Otherwise they're character traits?

I'm not usually someone who stops to think about themselves in this way. And I've put it off for most of the week, and my appointment is Friday morning...

So, homework...

Anyone want to help me cheat? :)

Zion National Park

  • Nov. 7th, 2009 at 8:33 PM
fall
is in my Nov/Dec AAA magazine :)

Article is "5 Hot Spots for 2010" - the five are Macchu Picchu(Cuzco, Peru); Madrid, Spain; Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City; Singapore; and Zion.

Zion National Park:
Recognized as a national treasure since 1909, Zion National Park in the Southwestern corner of Utah covers 229 square miles with the major attraction the 15-mile long Zion Canyon. Climb the occasionally steep trail to Angels Landing for breathtaking views that lay out the half-mile deep canyon below. Rangers help visitors plan horseback rides, mountain climbing trips and other excursions to digest the 150 million years of geologic sedimentation. From bright red to golden yellow and stark white the colorful striations have made this park a perennial favorite.

Can't speak for the overseas sights and haven't been to Toronto, but Montreal and Quebec City were nice though I was only there briefly. Zion was awesome, in both the real and "dude!" senses of the word :)

She just won't get it.

Oh, hell, she gets it, she just doesn't want to admit it.

Annoying cousin called yesterday evening - she & friends had supposedly run out of gas and wanted me to come out & lend her gas money. No.

Guess who just knocked at my door wanting to borrow five bucks?

Yeah. Didn't let her in and told her I wasn't giving her any money. She does a great "why do you hate me?" face. [eg]

And since these people seem to be driving her around, I'm *not* going to call and see if she needs a ride to the Post Office to pick up her check. If she calls, I'll do it, but I'm not offering.

Hey, everybody! Slap your coworker day!
